Natalie Göltenboth

Ethnologist

Natalie Göltenboth studied ethnology, new German literature and philosophy in Munich and Rome. She holds a PhD in social anthropology with a specialisation in contemporary art and Afro-Cuban religions in Cuba. She is a lecturer at the Department of Social and Cultural Anthropology at Ludwig-Maximilians-University in Munich and professor in the globalisation programme at the Venice International University in Venice. She has held guest professorships in Havana (Cuba), Sevilla (Spain) and Bern (Switzerland). Natalie Göltenboth is also an artist, freelance author and editor working in the interface of anthropology and art. Her current research focuses on contemporary art, urban transformation and new economies in Cuba.
