Emilija Gagrčin studied media and political communication at the Free University of Berlin. She is currently a PhD candidate at the Weizenbaum Institute for the Networked Society | Free University Berlin. In her project, she examines how digitalisation and datafication are changing the way young members of the public perceive and exercise their role in democracy.
Outside academia, she is active as a youth trainer in the field of intercultural learning and civic education. She has been a member of the Youth Advisory Council of the Council of Europe since 2018, where she is tasked with the topics of internet governance and artificial intelligence. In this capacity, she is currently a member of the Council of Europe Ad Hoc Committee on Artificial Intelligence (CAHAI), and the driving force behind the AI agenda of the youth sector in the Council of Europe.
Emilija Gagrčin is a member of the European A(i)lliance, which accompanies and advises the "Generation A=Algorithm" project”.
