Melissa Hekkers

Melissa Hekkers is a freelance journalist and author, based in Nicosia, Cyprus. She teaches creative writing to children and adults, leads European Funded progammes that focus on migrants and asylum seekers while her writing, both as a reporter and author focuses on migration issues. She is the author of several children's books and her most recent publication (2020) Amir’s Blue Elephant, is her first attempt at creative non-fiction and is based on her experiences as a volunteer working with refugees in Lesvos, Greece and Cyprus.
