Sophie Emilie Beha

Sophie Emilie Beha is a regular contributor to newspapers and specialist magazines and presenter for various public broadcasters in a wide range of different forms and fields, including music, drama and improvisation as well as poetry and curating. On stage or on the set, she emcees festivals, introduces concerts, and moderates podcasts and panel discussions. Or she gets behind the camera to direct or shoot video projects herself. Beha curates concerts and festivals at the Stadtgarten in Cologne, where she co-founded the Guterstoff interdisciplinary festival for experimental music and performance. Over in Berlin, she is the dramaturge of the PHØNIX16 singers’ collective and as a member of the Γλωσσα (Glossa) experimental choir, with whom she won a Karl Sczuka research grant in 2022. She was nominated for the German jazz journalism award in 2021. Her curatorial work has benefitted from the support of the NRW culture ministry’s NICA artist development programme since 2022.
