Gerald Barry is one of Ireland’s most admired composers whose opera The Importance of Being Earnest was awarded the Royal Philharmonic Society’s Large-Scale Composition Award in 2013. His composition Kafka’s Earplugs premiered in 2023 at the BBC Proms, where it was performed by the BBC Philharmonic.
