Berthold Franke
Cultural Scientist
Born in 1956, Berthold Franke (Dr phil.) studied music, German and social sciences and has worked as a musician, journalist and university lecturer. He joined the Goethe-Institut in 1988, spending periods in Warsaw, Dakar, Stockholm, Paris, Brussels, Prague and New Delhi. Berthold Franke has published numerous essays and articles on cultural and political topics in Merkur, ZEIT and Blätter für deutsche und internationale Politik, among others. In 2016, he was a member of the jury for the German Book Prize.
