Masimba Hwati is an interdisciplinary artist from Harare, Zimbabwe, who works internationally at the intersections of sculpture, performance and sound. Hwati studied and taught sculpture at the Harare Polytechnic School of Art and Design. He holds a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor and is a PhD candidate at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna in Art Practice. He is represented in various museums — including the University of Michigan Museum of Art (UMMA), Iziko, South African National Gallery, Montreal Museum of Fine Arts. In 2015, he exhibited in the Zimbabwean Pavilion at the 56th Venice Biennale. In 2021, he completed the radio art residency at Bauhaus University Weimar. 

For the project “Listening to the world – 100 years of radio,” he will lead the Bauhaus.Listening.Workshop in Johannesburg in March 2024.
