SAWA Museum Academy

The SAWA Museum Academy is the first consistent transcultural capacity building programme for career starters at museums in Arab-speaking countries and Germany.
It is dedicated to dialogue on appropriate museum practice between continents and cultures, with the goal of encouraging learning from and with each other.
The SAWA method combines learning from experts with hands-on exercises. Theoretical input serves as a starting point for practice-oriented project sketches in groups. Everyone works together to examine questions, conditions and practicality. This approach allows participants to gain insights not only into the practice of the Sharjah Museums in the United Arab Emirates as well as in Berlin, but also to exchange ideas about their experiences in their own institutions.
