CARE

Projects 2024 | Round 14

Coproduction partners: Aleksandra Janeva Imfeld (Croatia), Jasna Layes Vinovrški (Germany), Larisa Lipovac Navojec (Croatia)
The "Care" project brings together artistic vision, cultural exchange, and social responsibility through contemporary dance. The project examines the concept of care and the socio-political dynamics of care work. Since the 1960s, women from Yugoslavia, especially Croatia, have been working in German care institutions. Today, Croatian care workers are highly educated and recognized for their expertise, no longer part of the cheap labor force. The project explores how these women navigate care work between public institutions and private homes across Europe, where a shortage of care workers exists due to social and demographic factors. Jasna Layes Vinovrški will approach this topic together with the performers, incorporating research from their close environments, to further deepen the exploration of care in both public and private spaces. This exploration has been made possible through a collaboration between Nomad Dance Academy Croatia, Tala Ple(j)s, and Public in Private.
