International Coproduction Fund
Previous projects

The Goethe-Institut has maintained the International Co-Production Fund since 2016. As part of this funding, numerous projects have been created worldwide that have trialled new and innovative forms of international cooperation and experimented with fair and equal production methods. Through international cultural exchange in the performing arts, new ideas are realised in collaborative creative processes.

In recent years, a large number of interdisciplinary theatre, music and dance productions have brought together artists from different countries. The artists themselves set the focus and structure of their projects and were able to develop them over a period of up to 24 months. Collaborations in the International Coproduction Fund contributed to the emergence of new networks and redefined international cooperation. Digital technologies often enabled exchange across great distances and sometimes even influenced the artistic design of the projects. The successful development of international collaborations demonstrates that co-productions can open up new perspectives on intercultural exchange and enable dialogue on an equal footing in the artistic creative process. The International Coproduction Fund has grown into an important platform for supporting collaborative projects in international contexts.
