New issue of “das goethe”
Generations
The new issue of “das goethe” focuses on the topic of “generations”, on the occasion of the Kultursymposium Weimar.
On the occasion of the Kultursymposium Weimar, the eleventh issue of “das goethe” focuses on the topic of “generations”. For this we’ve asked several authors to give us examples of generational issues and their associated changes. In her essay “Ferngespräche” (“long-distance calls”), Elisabeth Wellershaus writes about the weekly telephone calls with her father, who comes from Equatorial Guinea. She is writing down his biography and, in this way, finds out a great deal about him, where he comes from and therefore also about herself. Michael Blume takes us with him on a journey from the origins of the alphabet as far as the traces left in the German language by the National Socialists. He illustrates the way in which certain words, and with the words also attitudes, are unconsciously passed down from generation to generation.
