Welcome
We will open the German Careers Day from the lecture theatre at the University of Melbourne together for the audience that will participate on campus, as well as the attendees who will join us online (via livestream on Zoom).
We are thrilled to commence this event with a warm welcome from Prof Birgit Lang, Professor in German Languages and Linguistics at the University of Melbourne and Dr. Axel Fliethmann, Associate Professor in the German Program at Monah University who will set the stage for an enlightening day ahead.
Following this welcome, we are honoured to present a keynote speech by Tevvi Bullock,
PhD Candidate at the Gender, Peace and Security Centre at Monash University who was the winner of the Australian German Association (AGA) Fellowship in 2020. As part of the fellowship, Tevvi undertook a research project in Germany with the topic "Civil Society Organisations and Gender-Responsive Climate Change Action: Enhancing Intercontinental Leadership and Collaboration between Australia and Germany".
The on-campus presentations are grouped into different sections. Further information on the sections and the presenters in each section can be found below. Throughout the day, you'll have the opportunity to interact with these experts, ask questions, and immerse yourself in the diverse opportunities the German language offers. We hope this event will inspire you and empower you to explore the endless horizons that await you in the German-speaking world.

Stay for the afternoon and experience German cinema on campus. "One in a Million" tells the story of two girls coming of age. As gymnast and YouTu-ber Whitney Bjerken from the US struggles with setbacks, she turns to music to express her feelings. Yara from Germany is one of her biggest fans and part of a show-acrobatics team. When she falls in love with a girl for the very first time, she barely finds time for her fan-account anymore. While navigating the exciting world of social media, Yara and Whitney begin to find out who they are and what they want in life. Teaching Material
In this fun Schnitzeljagd students will explore the beautiful campus of the University of Melbourne by finding a series of locations and answering questions! Grouped together in teams of four, every team will need one electronic device with the app "actionbound" to participate in the Schnitzeljagd!

The online program can easily be accessed from the comfort of your classroom or individually from one's own device. After the welcome and keynote presentation which will be screened from the University of Melbourne, you will move to 2 different breakout rooms which will be hosted by one of our Goethe-Institut staff members.

Goethe on Demand Film Screenings
As an optional afternoon activity, we offer online screening of the films MISSION ULJA FUNK (2021) and ONE IN A MILLION (2022) through our platform GOETHE ON DEMAND.
GOETHE ON DEMAND is a service that offers movies online. The films are available as an online stream via TVs, computers, tablets and smartphones. We recommend using Chrome or Firefox. Once you registered and rented a movie, it will be available in the "My Movies" section.
We suggest that you register and, if necessary, test the platform at your school before the German Careers Day (especially when streaming of your device via a projector). There are films available free of charge which you could use to test the process. Here is some further information:
