#FILMSFORFUTURE
EVENTS
The symposium will open on November 26 at 5:00 PM with the Austrian co-production “Generation Change – Who Saves The World?” and a panel discussion with cultural workers and representatives of environmental organizations. On November 27th, 28th, and 29th, student groups will have the opportunity to attend guided tours of the FOODPRINT exhibition on healthy eating, presentations on environmental protection topics, and visit the Mini Eco Fair before each film screening. Additionally, workshops for young people will be held during these three days in collaboration with environmental organizations Aarhus Center Sarajevo, Eko Forum Zenica, and Zemlja-Voda-Zrak Tuzla.
The full program for the Youth Symposium “Culture for Climate Action” can be downloaded here:
To register student groups, please send an email by November 22nd to: projekte-sarajevo@goethe.de
No registration is required for attending the film screenings. Admission is free. The films will be screened in their original languages with subtitles in B/C/S. A Q&A session with the filmmakers and local environmental experts will follow each screening.
The goal of the Youth Symposium “Culture for Climate Action” is to raise awareness among young people in Bosnia and Herzegovina about the consequences of environmental pollution and climate change through cultural education and the impactful medium of film. It also aims to inspire them to contribute to the future of their country and our planet through climate action. Additionally, the event promotes the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The European documentary film program for climate action #FilmsForFuture seeks to introduce young people to the urgent issues of climate change and environmental pollution in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Europe, and beyond. It invites dialogue on global, regional, and local challenges and motivates urgent climate action.
The Youth Symposium “Culture for Climate Action” is part of the #FilmsForFuture project organized by the EUNIC Cluster in Bosnia and Herzegovina, with the support of the Goethe-Institut, the French Institute, the Austrian Cultural Forum, the Embassy of the Kingdom of Spain, and the Delegation of the EU in Bosnia and Herzegovina, in cooperation with the Regional Youth Cooperation Office (RYCO), Eco Forum Zenica, Zemlja-Voda-Zrak Tuzla, and the Heinrich Böll Foundation Sarajevo.
The symposium also marks the conclusion of the German-French project FILMS FOR CLIMATE ACTION organized by the Goethe-Institut and the French Institute. As part of this project, students from Bosnia and Herzegovina created short documentaries addressing environmental issues in their cities, presenting problems and offering solutions.
