Cleo

Germany 2019, 101 min.
Director: Erik Schmitt
With: Marleen Lohse, Jeremy Mockridge, Max Mauff, Heiko Pinkowski, Andrea Sawatzki, Fabian Busch

"Either you stay here and nothing happens. No more pain. Just nothing. Or you go back to the Teufelsberg and everything can happen. Everything that hurts, but everything that is beautiful too. The choice is yours."

In Erik Schmitt's playful Cleo, as in his short films Rhino Full Throttle and Berlin Metanoia, the German capital plays the very big leading role. It is about the soul of the city, whose eventful history is wound through to the big bang. Ghosts of Berlin legends spill their knowledge and charm, while Cleo desperately tries to undo the blows of her childhood. A fabled treasure promises hope. Together with three quirky but lovable companions, she embarks on a quest across the city, time and her own emotional world.
