#DeutscherFilmklub:
Bauhaus and Beyond
2019 marks the centenary of Bauhaus, a German art school that was famous for its approach to design.
To mark its history and significance, this year's #DeutscherFilmklub theme is, "Bauhaus and beyond". We've chosen a number of documentaries and films that explore the school's influence on design, architecture and social values. Join us for another year of the #DeutscherFilmklub where we will enjoy and discuss films from the Bauhaus era and contemporary interpretations.
Walter Gropius founded the Bauhaus in 1919, and it revolutionized design, architecture and cities. Its concepts explored function, simplicity and efficiency by integrating the arts and handcrafts. Bauhaus emphasized the needs of the people and integrated the arts and handcrafts. It attempted to create community through art.
