Artificial intelligence (AI) is not neutral. The way robots are built, trained, and used has a major impact on our everyday lives and our society.
Robot in residence
The interaction of its products with people of different backgrounds, cultures and genders depends on who built the system and what training data is used for programming. With the consequences and problems of a lack of diversity, the robot-in-residence project advocates for a critical reflection on design processes and creates examples for a more diverse future vision with and through AI.
Three tandems of artists and coders will work with a NAO robot for six weeks, programming it and teaching it new skills. The focus is on a critical engagement with AI, especially in terms of diversity, local concerns and creativity.
