Concert Goethe-Découverte : Music

Papy Anza

Papy Anza, born Patrick Mbanda Anza in Douala in 1989, set up Jemea Band with his friend and brother, Andy Jemea. After graduating from the University of Buea with a BSc. in Biochemistry, he dedicated his life to his musical career and became a regular of cabarets and various cultural spaces. His musical style developed progressively as he played Jazz, Blues, and Soul, as well as African, Chinese and Indian rhythms. A singer and guitar player, he has collaborated with several Cameroonian, Gabonese and DRC artists. His forthcoming first album, titled “Satea”, on which the show is based, explores the artist’s joys, sorrows, and questionings, as well as the theme of love for others. This show, marked by different Sahelian, afro jazz, makossa, and Bolobo rhythms, is a journey in which the human is at the heart of all positive action.
