In the framework of the Dance Wave Festival 2017
During the “Dance Wave Festival 2017” the Egomio Cultural Centre, supported by the Goethe-Institut Nicosia, presents Totilas – The Ride by Paul Hess on 11 November 2017 at 8.30pm.
Totilas – The Ride is a humorous dance performance in which Paul Hess points out the absurdity of dressage riding. He was awarded with 1st prize and the audience prize at “The Best German Dance Theatre 2015” competition during the finale of the “Euro Scene” in Leipzig on 8 November 2015.
Born in Wuppertal in 1984, Paul Hess attended music and drama lessons as a child at the Music and Art School, Velbert. In 2002, before completing his education at the school, he was accepted as a young student at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen. After receiving his high school diploma, he continued his studies at the university and graduated with a Degree in Stage Dancing and Choreography. He began to choreograph his own dance works during his studies and eventually won the Masdanza competition in Gran Canaria with his play, Gegen Grenzen Atmen (Breathing Against Borders). His choreography, Kompreno, won the audience prize at the “Festival 638 Kilo Tanz”. Paul has been a guest dancer at the Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch since 2008. From 2010 to 2012 he was a cast member of the Tanztheater Münster and also worked with the choreographers, Anna Konjetzky, Micha Purucker, Malou Airaudo, Jerome Bel, Mark Sieczkarek, Daniel Goldin, Susanne Linke and Pina Bausch.
