In the middle of the Second World War, Lily (Juliane Köhler), whose husband and father of their four children is fighting at the front, and Felice (Maria Schrader) begin an affair. Felice is Jewish and is working for a National Socialist newspaper and is also an underground resistance fighter. It is important to both of them to maintain control in life – yet they lose this when they develop feelings for one another and fall in love. Soon Felice has to make a difficult decision.
The film is based on a true story between Lily Wust and Felice Schragenheim.
