Töötuba toimub programmi "Art Meets Tech 2025" raames.

Workshop 25.02.2025:

On the 25 February at 8 pm (7 pm CET) there will be an online workshop on new technologies from Web3, led by Kaitlyn Davies, producer and researcher.

In the digital age, the way we work and collaborate is changing. Instead of relying on major platforms and intermediaries — such as social media (Facebook, Instagram), digital marketplaces (Etsy, Patreon), or tech companies that control the distribution of artistic content (Spotify, YouTube) — new technologies offer alternatives where communities can manage their own resources directly and autonomously.

Are you a musician, designer, photographer, or digital creator who depends on paid platforms or opaque algorithms to showcase and monetize your work?

In this workshop, we explore, among other aspects, DAOs (Decentralized Autonomous Organizations) —online communities that function like collectives of artists and digital investors, where decisions are made collaboratively, funding is managed collectively, and operational rules are set without the need for a central intermediary such as a company, a bank, or a museum.

In this session, you’ll discover how these new technologies:
offer an alternative to traditional funding by enabling direct support from the community and investors;
ensure transparency and security through blockchain technology;
decentralize decision-making, allowing the community itself to actively participate in resource distribution, fostering greater diversity and innovation.
Over the last three years, debates and projects around Web3 technologies have increased. But what potential do these tools offer for a new creative economy that goes beyond financialization and wealth creation? Will Web3 technology exclude or empower communities? And how can we create accessibility to enable real-world use cases for decentralized technologies? This workshop will shed light on these questions through an introduction to Web3 and decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs), followed by an open discussion and a collaborative on-chain experiment.

Participants do not need any prior knowledge or experience with blockchain or cryptocurrencies but are encouraged to interact with the technology during the session. They will need access to Discord (desktop or mobile), Rainbow Wallet (or an ETH wallet of their choice) and Instagram.
