My Areas of Interest:

Reproductive Health and the Environment

In Mauretania, breast cancer is one of the most common cancer types. Until only few years ago, this disease was little known and understood in the country and even equated with certain death. In my article, “Mauretania: Breast Cancer Management”, I shed light on the work of the National Oncology Office (OCO), the first centre of nuclear medicine in Mauretania. Opened in late 2014 with the support of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the centre is credited not only for making the treatment of breast cancer more widely available but also for demystifying the disease.
