The Link between Urban Planning and Health
Due to my professional background as a civil engineer, I became aware of a deficit in urban planning that is only rarely addressed in the media or even recognised or taken seriously. The insufficient organisation and separation of industrial from residential areas is one of the most serious problems in the development of Arab cities. In fact, in both the short and long term, it poses a grave danger to the wellbeing of people and to the environment. For my article, I used the city that I live in, one of the most important industrial cities in Jordan, as a case study to demonstrate this danger.
