Wolfgang Bauer
(born: 1970 in Hamburg), Journalist
Wolfgang Bauer studied Islamic Studies at Tübingen University, followed by Geography and History. Since 1994 he has worked as a freelance journalist and has written for various media. He has been a war reporter in crisis regions several times. In 2014 his first book on this topic, Across the Sea: with Syrians on the Exodus to Europe, was published. In 2018 a book of reports from crisis zones was published under the title Bruchzone: Krisenreportagen. He has been awarded several journalism prizes, including the Catholic Media Prize, the Nannen Prize and the Prix Bayeux-Calvados des Correspondants de Guerre. Wolfgang Bauer lives in Reutlingen.
