Igor Levit
Born in Nizhny Novgorod in 1987, Igor Levit is one of the world’s best and most sought-after contemporary pianists. Levit’s family moved to Hanover in 1995, and he has chosen to make Berlin his home. He plays with world-famous orchestras and has won multiple awards. His work Bach, Beethoven, Rzewski, which won the Gramophone Award in 2016, includes the contemporary piece The people united will never be defeated. An avowed European, Levit gets involved in political debates, including on Twitter.
