But then, the planes came more and more often and you had to be frightened all the time. So, the parents decided to leave for a different country. Rahaf and Hassan told Kirsten Boie how they travelled from Egypt to Italy on a boat that was way too small and how they went on to Germany, and Kirsten Boie retells their story to us. Also she tells of a ranting woman and a friendly train guard... and about Emma, who Rahaf befriends at school.

We publish this story in two languages, so that many refugee children can read it in their language. Additionally, a little phrase book at the end helps with learning German and Arabic. Jan Birck’s pictures accompany the text in an impressive and warm-hearted way.
