Teaching German always brings me joy. It has been my life’s work and it has been a huge privilege to enthuse and inspire the next generation of German speakers throughout my career. I have taught German for nearly 30 years and before becoming Head of Department in 2013, I worked as Teacher in charge of German and then as KS2 Outreach Teacher for a Language College, teaching across a cluster of 6 Primary School schools. I have a wealth of experience in KS3/KS4/KS5 and am deeply passionate about and committed to working on a wider platform to further promote the German language and culture and to bring exceptional and inspirational teaching of German to the forefront of Modern Foreign Languages teaching in the UK.

Currently a Head of Faculty in a six-form entry 11-16 school, all our students learn German in Year 7 and then choose an additional language in Year 8. German is our most popular language option at GCSE, with 18 German classes across the KS3-5 cohort. I lead a talented team, 3 of whom are also German specialists, including our Head Teacher!
