Lead teacher of A-Level German and French at Abbeygate Sixth Form College in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk
Hi, I’m Jenny and I currently lead the teaching of A-Level German and French at Abbeygate Sixth Form College in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, which is part of the Eastern Colleges Group and Suffolk Academies Trust.
My main area of expertise is the A-Level curriculum, the use of digital tools in teaching and the planning of visits and trips, including exchanges. Having initially studied international law and human rights in the UK and Germany and having worked for many years as a solicitor, I completed a PGCE at the University of Cambridge in 2009 and I have been teaching German and French in a number of secondary schools throughout East Anglia ever since.
I also lead annual exchange visits to Germany and run a number of extra-curricular clubs for students. Passionate about promoting German as a language and also its usefulness in careers to our students, I am always keen to find crossover with other A-Level subjects to engage students and I am currently planning a sixth-form workshop on the theme of Communism with History teachers.
