Combined Language and Pedagogical Training Course in Berlin

German for teachers with little or no prior knowledge of German. Fully funded if application is successful. 
 
 
This training course aimed at non-specialist primary school teachers offers a combination of an A1/A2 language course and a pedagogical training programme.
 
 
 
Eligibility criteria: 
 
  • state primary school teachers in England 
  • language level: beginner A1/A2 
  • teachers and headteachers who intend to introduce German at their schools or who already teach German. 
  • you can confirm that you are able to attend for the duration of the course 
  • you will need a stable internet connection, a headset with a microphone and a webcam for the online learning phase
  • application: a short motivational letter (400 words max.) 
  • approval by head of school
 
 
The aims of this course are: 
  • an introduction to state-of-the-art methods and teaching material for teaching German at primary school level with a focus on interactive and communication-oriented teaching methods 
  • the improvement of language skills 
  • the deepening of historical and cultural knowledge about Germany relevant to primary school children 
 
Additionally, participants will have the chance to either visit a German primary school or youth centre.  There will also be a cultural programme (guided tour, concert or museum).

Blended format: preparation for the in-person course in Germany and booster session to review and refresh participants‘knowedge will take place online.
