Professional Development for German Teachers

Children learn differently to teenagers and adults. Teachers and educators at primary level therefore need special knowledge when teaching German as a foreign language in order to be able to organise their lessons in a way that is effective for learning and suitable for children. This DLL unit focuses on language acquisition processes in children, developmental psychological aspects of early learning, skills acquisition and, above all, methodological and didactic aspects of teaching children.

Unit 8 of the Deutsch Lehren Lernen series explores the following questions, among others:
  • How does language acquisition take place in children's first language and what does this mean for learning other languages?
  • Which learning activities and materials are suitable for teaching younger children?
  • How can a child's learning progress be observed and assessed?

HOW AND WHERE?

Blended learning with:
  1. Continuous online phase on the Goethe-Institut learning platform and
  2. 4 x live online sessions, each lasting 90 to 120 minutes. The exact dates and times for the sessions will be decided together with you and the DLL trainers at the beginning of the course.
