Online Upskilling Course
In this online professional development course, you will get to know the materials "German with Felix and Franzi" and how to use them successfully in class. You will expand your linguistic and methodological-didactic knowledge and get to know current materials for motivating German lessons in primary school. Through discussions with other participants, you will develop ideas for your lessons that you can implement immediately.
Who can register for the course?
The course is aimed at:
- Primary and secondary school teachers who teach in primary schools.
- For teachers who would like to teach German at primary schools and who would like to refresh and/or extend their German language skills
- Primary school teachers with very basic knowledge of German (A1 level)
How does the course work?
The course takes place online in a
blended learning format over a period of
6 weeks. You will be given access to the online course on the Goethe-Institut's l
earning platform and will work on exercises and tasks alone and with other participants every week. You will receive support from
qualified teacher trainers over the entire duration of the course.
There are also four
live online sessions where you can exchange information with the trainers and other participants live online, discuss the week's assignments, ask questions and go into more detail.
You can join the live online sessions from your computer at home. You will need a stable internet connection, a headset with a microphone, and a web camera.
The dates for the live online sessions will be announced at the beginning of the course.
Please note that completion of all assignments and attendance at all live online sessions is expected in order to receive a
confirmation of attendance.
The weekly
workload is 3 hours.
What are the aims of the course?
You will be able to:
- Understand the concept and structure of the 'German with Felix & Franzi' concept and materials for Key Stage 2.
- Access and use the various resources
- Apply relevant methods (vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, regional studies) for teaching German in primary schools
- Exchange ideas in the group about language teaching methods
- Use the hand puppets in class
- Try out extracts from the "German with Felix & Franzi" curriculum
- Understand the basics of teaching language through music and film
- make your lessons varied and motivating
- Gain confidence to deliver German lessons to Key Stage 2 pupils
