The Goethe-Institut London is looking for a Social Media Manager to join the Communications Department.Employment will be part-time (50%) with 19.5 hours per week. This role is offered on a one-year fixed-term contract, with the potential for extension.

The starting salary for this position in the Goethe-Institut’s remuneration scheme is £17.262 for the part-time position (per annum). Annual Leave starts with 13 days plus Bank Holidays for the part-time position (per annum). This increases depending on the length of service. The Goethe-Institut also offers a contributory pension scheme.

Please note that the successful candidate will need an existing valid UK residence and work permit. 

Duties Comprise:

As a Social Media Manager you will be …
  • Creating, scheduling, and posting engaging multimedia content on the Goethe-Institut London’s social media channels (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and others) in line with our corporate design and mission 
  • Monitoring and responding to audience comments and messages to foster a positive and interactive community 
  • Tracking and analysing social media metrics to evaluate performance and contributing to future social media strategies 
  • Collaborating with other departments to efficiently promote cultural and language events, programmes and classes 
  • Supporting the Communications Department in preparing content for and the running of digital platforms including the Goethe UK‘s website and social media channels   

Requirements:

  • Native English speaker or a C2 level in written and spoken English 
  • Intermediate language proficiency in German language or B1 level in written and spoken German and the desire to deepen the German language skill 
  • Experience in strategic communications management including social media and online marketing 
  • Experience in designing and editing content for digital audiences e.g. using platforms such as Canva, Kapwing or Photoshop 
  • Experience working with CMS  
  • Knowledge of and interest in the British and German cultural scenes 
  • Excellent attention to detail 
  • Flexibility and reliability 
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team 
  • Strong  communication skills 
  • British residency and the right to work in the UK
