Part of the exhibition Critical Zones. In Search of a Common Ground.
The work takes off from the question, “What might be the wishes of a wish-granting Kalpavriksha in the contemporary, and what sites of future might this techno-ecological intersection envision?”
Building on the mythical forest of Khandava burnt during Mahabharata, it posits the tree as a subject of the complex technological, sociological, and ecological intersections that terraform our world; encoding and decoding signals from the physical and the meta through large fungal networks and evaporating liquid realities. The work through this speculative landscape ruminates on nature and human agency, empathetic symbiosis, informatic voids, alternate temporal realms, and liquid cracklings.
