Hem Mahesh’s contact with German started as a language student in the 70’s at the Goethe-Institut Chennai.
Her subsequent work history straddled the areas of Culture and Language and took her to the Goethe-Institut in Pune and Mumbai, the House of World Cultures, Berlin and finally to England. She is now back where it began, teaching at the Goethe-Institut Chennai. Hem has brought out three books, one of which is her own translation from German into English.
