About the project
Yemen Creative Hubs is a collaborative initiative launched in April 2022 funded by the European Union. Yemen Creative Hubs involves the Goethe-Institut as Lead Implementing Partner and six consortium members: Aden Again Cultural Foundation, Basement Cultural Foundation, Madarat, Yemen Art Base, and Your ECHO. This initiative supports civil society organizations (CSOs) and individuals in the cultural sector to promote social cohesion, dialogue, and peacebuilding amidst Yemen’s humanitarian crisis. The project commenced in April 2022 with an initial two-year plan.
The second phase, Yemen Creative Hubs II, was kicked-off in April 2024 and will conclude in 2028. This phase aims to build upon the competencies, networks, and broader audience reach established in the first phase.
Yemen Creative Hubs II will continue to engage local communities and vulnerable groups in gender-equitable development and peace-building processes, enhancing resilience and economic opportunities through arts and culture. It will facilitate initiatives to showcase and connect artistic productions with local and international markets, supporting income generation opportunities such as fairs, bazaars, conferences, visibility campaigns, and art resilience stores.
Additionally, it will focus on networks of intangible cultural heritage and capacity-building opportunities to increase the visibility of cultural heritage to a broader international audience and allow civil society actors to overcome the feeling of loss of cultural heritage. Organisation and coordination of CSO´s interest and activities will foster a supportive, dynamic, coordinated, empowered, and participatory cultural environment in Yemen.
