Malbas is the first project of the Sawn Yemen platform. Malbas aims to document traditional Yemeni clothing in the Taiz region. In a first step, pictures and information are shared on the platform's social media accounts. Those publications are based on information collected during field trips. The platform aims to be a trusted reference for artists, fashion designers, and stylists interested in adopting traditional styles. Malbas is intended to help arouse interest in Yemeni cultural heritage and encourage people to participate in its preservation. The project is particularly aimed at the contribution of Yemeni artists, who can disseminate their knowledge of traditional Yemeni garments. The Sawn Yemen platform is considered an important source for raising local and international awareness of Yemeni cultural heritage.

Malbas aims to document and preserve traditional Yemeni fashion. As a result of the research for reliable sources, a database of photographs is being compiled and made public via the online accounts of Sawn Yemen’s. It seeks to increase awareness and to become a reliable open source for Yemeni artists and individuals interested in the Yemeni cultural heritage.
