Workshop for the love of art

How do we look at art? How does a work of art raise questions? And how do we put into words what we see? Art also makes us look at everyday life in a new way. Using the Rosemarie Trockel exhibition as a starting point, we examine how her art can stimulate the imagination. Her artworks, such as paintings made of wool and installations made of stove tops, initially seem disconcerting. In the workshop, we linger in our contemplation of art and get closer to it. During the workshop we will train our eyes with short and playful exercises to discover more in the artworks. The workshop is aimed at anyone who enjoys art: No previous knowledge is required.

The workshop will be led by An Paenhuysen. She is a cultural historian, curator, and author. She is also the coordinator of the International Curatorial Programme at the Node Centre for Curatorial Studies, where she also teaches art critic and creative writing in the arts. Her most recent curatorial projects are Hotel Belgrade Art and Signs. Deaf Culture/ Hearing culture und die Tödliche Doris: Tournee. An is part of the collective minisae, which explores an exchange between visual art, dance, somatic practice and writing.

The workshop is part of the Rosemarie Trockel exhibition. The exhibition can be seen at the Sungkok Museum from 29 August to 27 October.
