Who can use the “Onleihe”?

Every person who is interested and who lives in Lebanon can use the services of the Onleihe. Disclaimer: The use of eLibrary media on Apple and Linux powered devices is very limited (at the moment, only eBooks in the ePub format). The use of eLibrary media is not possible on Kindles. Why? Because Apple and Kindles have their own digital rights management (DRM), which are not compatible with the eLibrary's DRM. We recommend you confirm that your PC or Mac operating system is compatible prior to signing up.

How do I register to use the eLibrary?

Logging in to use our eLibrary is simple: Log in to your Mein Goethe.de account. If you don't yet have a Mein Goethe.de account please register for one (registration and use of Mein Goethe.de and the eLibrary are free of charge). Our eLibrary is for customers based outside the German-speaking area. To use the eLibrary within Germany please contact your local library. After logging in to Mein Goethe.de, go to the menu option "My eLibrary" and click on the "Log in" option. You can now use the digital media available in our eLibrary!

Minimum Technical Requirements for eLibrary Use

Please ensure before registration that your device (PC, smartphone, tablet, e-book reader etc.) fulfills the technical requirements. Refer to the eLibrary website for more information. The copyright on the media of the eLibrary requires a number of systems to work together. eLibrary is not in charge of all these processes. Therefore, we cannot offer our media to all available systems and devices. Please note: Amazon's Kindle is a closed system. Kindle owners cannot use the eLibrary. The eLibrary ("Onleihe") is the free, virtual library of the Goethe-Institut Libanon which allows you to borrow digital media.

The eLibrary is the virtual library of the Goethe-Institut Lebanon. This service allows you to borrow digital media, such as ebooks, audio and video files, and electronic newspapers and magazines, for a predetermined period of time, by downloading them from our eLibrary.

Returning media isn't necessary - at the end of the loan period, media automatically becomes unavailable.
