Recap of Go Green Goethe Program in June 2024

We successfully organized an event on June 22, 2024, as part of the Go Green Goethe program in collaboration with Myanmar Ocean Project and Prevent Plastics Myanmar, attracting over 100 participants of various ages, all passionate about the environment and marine life.

The speaker, Thanda Ko Gyi, expressed her gratitude with the following note:

"I finally managed a manta day in Yangon! It was a day to talk about manta and mobula rays and share my passion and knowledge. I have conducted talks before, but they have mainly been limited to marine tourists.

This time, with support from the Goethe-Institut Myanmar/Go Green Goethe program and Prevent Plastics Myanmar, the Myanmar Ocean Project organized a day celebrating and sharing manta knowledge with the people of Yangon. The day we started with children SONNE Social Organization enjoying the "Our Ocean, Our Home" manta comic coming to life in a play, followed by coloring their own manta creations.

We then spent the evening learning about mobula rays species, the threats they face in Myanmar, and our manta and mobula ray research, which has contributed to the Important Shar and Ray Areas (ISRA).

Manta and mobula rays have been a huge passion of mine, and that is why I started exploring marine conservation and what role I can play in Myanmar to protect these species and the ocean.

I am very grateful I had the opportunity to share this with everyone on Saturday. Thank you!"

"Recalling Kafka," a week-long cultural program on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Franz Kafka's death

Goethe-Institut Myanmar is hosting "Recalling Kafka," a week-long cultural program on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Franz Kafka's death. Franz Kafka, a renowned German-speaking writer, is famous for his depictions of absurd societies, thought-provoking writing style, and surreal narratives. Although a century has passed since his death, Kafka's legacy endures in the hearts of readers and fans alike.

Are you among those who cherish his memory?

If so, we extend a warm invitation to "Recalling Kafka: a week-long cultural program on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Franz Kafka's death", which will take place from June 28th to July 6th, 2024. Generously supported by the German Embassy Yangon and in collaboration with the Embassy of Czech Republic in Yangon, we invite you to join us for this special event.

Academy of Care

As we wrap up our second cohort at the Academy of Care, we're excited to share insights from recent workshops that have deepened our understanding of creative therapy practices. Our workshops were led by international licensed therapists and educators from Myanmar, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Israel, and Germany.

Week 4: Intensive Drama Therapy Workshop
Participants explored techniques like metaphor and role-play theory, with a strong emphasis on trauma-informed practices and teamwork.

Weeks 5 and 6: Art and Music Therapy Workshops
Art Therapy sessions focused on expression and empowerment through visual art, while the Music Therapy Techniques Workshop emphasized emotional exploration through music.

In the final three weeks, participants will dedicate their efforts to developing and implementing their own intervention workshops using creative therapy approaches. Trainees will learn how to develop proposals for community mental well-being initiatives, integrating their newfound skills and knowledge. The program will conclude with participant-led workshops, where trainees will apply their skills in a supportive environment.

Upcoming Program
The Academy of Care is gearing up for the next cohort in September! Please stay tuned for the announcement in July on our social media channels. If interested, you may reach out to us at academyofcare.yangon@goethe.de.
