Mini Light Evening
The "Reuse, Recreate, Re-embellish " recycled creative workshop
The "Reuse, Recreate, Re-embellish " recycled creative workshop, a part of the Go Green Goethe program, was successfully conducted for six days over three consecutive weeks in October. From the many applicants, 10 participants were selected to take part in the workshop, where they crafted beautiful handmade paper lanterns and papercut art pieces using recycled materials. Now, these items, brought to life from discarded office materials and given a second life, will be on view in the premises of Goethe-Institut Myanmar before the Tazaungdaing Festival.
We would like to invite you to join us for an evening where the handmade lanterns from the workshop will be lit, and the papercut artworks will be beautifully displayed. This event will take place on the evening of November 9, and further details will be shared on the social media pages of Goethe-Institut Myanmar.
On behalf of the Go Green Goethe team, we warmly invite you to stay tuned and participate.

Archive in Focus Announcement
Announcing 'Archives in Focus': A Unique Exploration of Photography and History
Archives in Focus—an international gathering dedicated to photography and visual culture, co-organized by the Myanmar Photo Archive and the Goethe-Institut Myanmar with local and international partners.
'Archives in Focus' marks the culmination of a two-year collaboration between Myanmar Photo Archive and Goethe-Institut Myanmar, focused on the diverse, community-driven, and participatory reinterpretation of the archive's visual materials. This collaborative effort concludes in a three-week international program/series of events showcasing the results of the past two years of their joint work.
This unique event will take place from November 15th to December 15th, spanning two locations: Chiang Mai, Thailand, and Yangon, Myanmar.
Archives in Focus will showcase compelling narratives from Myanmar and beyond, offering profound insights into how lives have been documented and portrayed by both professional and amateur photographers in the 19th and 20th centuries. The program will feature a diverse array of stories, from colonial-era photographs to contemporary explorations of identity, culture, and displacement. In a time marked by increasing global and local divisions regarding societal governance and structure, the event invites us to rethink and reinterpret our past and present. Through a series of exhibitions, workshops, and talks, attendees will have the opportunity to engage with artists, curators, and collectives as they offer fresh perspectives on history and personal experiences.
Stay tuned for more updates and detailed information about the program. For international visitors interested in attending, please contact the Myanmar Photo Archive directly via DM.

World Mental Health Days Event Success
Firstly, we want to update you on the success of our World Mental Health Days (WMHD) event, "Mindful October: Creative Paths to Mental Wellbeing and Healing," held from October 10 to 12, 2024, at the Goethe-Institut Myanmar. The three-day event provided a meaningful exploration of mental health through creative therapies, including art, music, and drama.
Day 1 featured a Dramatherapy Workshop led by Dr. Ravindra Ranasinha and Cohort 3 Participants, where participants learned techniques to manage stress and anxiety. Day 2 offered an interactive theatre performance by the AFXB Theatre Team, insightful film screenings, and a youth dialogue on mental wellbeing. On Day 3, participants engaged in an Art Therapy Workshop and a Music Therapy Workshop, led by professionals and co-facilitated by Academy of Care alumni, followed by a closing Poetry x Music Performance.
It was a powerful platform for participants and attendees to explore mental health and wellbeing through creative expression.
AoC Cohort 3 November Updates and Wrapping Up with the Open House Session
As we head into November, our AoC Cohort 3 participants are in the final stages of their program. Building on the momentum from October, our AoC Cohort 3 participants are now transitioning into a Practice-Based Week, where participants will prepare presentations and interactive activities to share with their peers. Throughout this month, they will apply what they've learned from their experiences in dramatherapy, music therapy, and art therapy during October. The program will wrap up with the Open House Session, which will not only showcase their learning journey but also give them practical experience in conducting and facilitating workshops by presenting to the public. Participants will gain invaluable insights into how to bring these creative therapy techniques back to their own communities, empowering them to conduct similar workshops and support mental wellbeing locally.
The program officially concludes on Mid of November. We are incredibly proud of the progress Cohort 3 has made, and we look forward to seeing how they apply their newfound skills in their communities.
