Critically acclaimed by London’s Daily Telegraph as “the classical world’s best known guitar duo,” the Katona Twins will be touring in South-East Asia in September 2014. Peter and Zoltán Katona effortlessly transfer from strictly classical into more popular musical genres and have given recitals in the major concert venues throughout the world. In 2009, as the soloists of the "Night of the Proms" they performed live to half a million people in arenas across Europe. They played together with renowned musicians such as Yo-Yo Ma and Nobuya Sugawa and world class ensembles such as the BBC Concert Orchestra and the London Sinfonietta.
The SEA tour is organized by the Goethe-Institutes in the region. Besides concerts there will be workshops and masterclasses. In Malaysia, there are two concerts, in Penang and Kuala Lumpur.
The concert in Kuala Lumpur is hosted by Soka Gakkai and will also feature Malaysian guitarist Az Samad, who will perform a few pieces together with the Katona Twins. Az Samad is an accomplished guitarist and respected educator in all aspects of the guitar.
The concert in Penang is co-organised by the Malaysian-German Society Penang and the Wawasan Open University.
