Winners (Sieger Sein): Family, 2024, 119 minutes

Having fled Syria with her Kurdish family, Mona (Dileyla Agirman) is now a new pupil at a chaotic school in Berlin. The situation is disastrous: teachers are overworked and at their wits' end, pupils are frustrated. Mona's biggest problem: she hardly speaks any German. But she has a card up her sleeve: she is fantastic at playing football. She has already played football with her brothers on the streets in her home country. Mr Che (Andreas Döhler), one of the few dedicated teachers, recognises Mona's talent. He accepts her into the girls' team and the young girl's main task now is to persevere. Because playing together with the other girls isn't easy. Each of them wants to score points on the pitch as a lone fighter. But football only works as a team. The girls' team has to pull together and, by joining forces, they might just manage to become winners...

Directed by Soleen Yusef, starring Dileyla Agirman, Andreas Döhler, Sherine Merai
