Herzsprung: Drama, 1992, 84 minutes
In an East German village, social life has come to a standstill following reunification. A young woman and mother of two struggles to find the courage to face life after the suicide of her husband, but her love for a dark-skinned stranger leads to disaster. This superbly photographed and acted debut film from 1992 impressively conveys a picture of a region characterised by unemployment, hatred of foreigners and a lack of prospects.
Directed by Helke Misselwitz, starring Claudia Geisler, Günter Lamprecht, Eva-Maria Hagen, Nino Sandow, Tatjana Besson, Ben Becker, Hanns Zischler
