Episode 2
After receiving a tip-off from the arrested Max Weber, Gorsky and Lottner are keeping the Baltic Sea Café under observation, where they soon become involved in an operation by the State Investigation Bureau. As the elite team is raiding the café, Gorsky and Lottner witness a man escaping. They take up the chase, catch the man and hand him over to their colleagues at the State Investigation Bureau.
This operation has repercussions. Sokolov, the man who was arrested, manages to escape during police questioning. The head of the Organized Crime Department, Nico Roeber, requests the help of Gorsky and Lottner. Their mission: to recapture Sokolov. This is their opportunity to break free from the daily grind of Division 60 and take their places in the thick of the action.
Gorsky goes to the Odessa restaurant to see what he can find out about Sokolov. Stella, Gorsky’s sister, whose husband Mischa owns the restaurant, angrily rebuffs her brother’s request for help. His brother-in-law, Mischa, suspects Gorsky’s reasons for coming to the Odessa and persuades his business partners, Victor Lushin and Leonid Bondarenko, not to antagonize Marek Gorsky but to use him to the advantage of their criminal organization. At the same time, he offers reassurance to Sokolov, who has taken refuge in the basement of the Odessa.
Meanwhile, the freight forwarder Lenz, who makes a pretty penny not just through smuggling but also from the raids on his lorry, is enjoying his favourite pastimes with his son: caviar, cocaine and some Russian girls in a hotel suite. The brothel owner Kolja has reserved the Ukrainian girl Jelena’s first night for Lenz, so it’s no big deal when Jelena refrains from joining the orgy in the hotel room. Lenz is happy to wait. Swetlana, on the other hand, discovers the violent side of the business on her very first day on the job. The brothel owner Kolja beats her and demands that she give him the tip paid to her by her punter.
