“I am the universe”
The special screening event, held on Monday, July 22 2024 was organized by Goethe Institut Karachi for B2.1 level students as part of their exploration of "Art and Culture." After watching the film directed by Syed Shiraz Ali Bukhari students had the chance to interact with Shiraz—an artist—. Syed Huzaifa—a young filmmaker.
During the ensuing discussion, students engaged directly with the filmmakers delving into the challenges that artists encounter in Pakistan and the wider artistic landscape across the nation. The conversation offered insights into the intricacies of pursuing endeavours within a dynamic and diverse cultural setting.
Shiraz elaborated on his film's underlying concept by stating,
“The essence of this film lies in our role as creators. We do not merely enter this world; rather we emerge from it like leaves sprouting from a tree. Just as waves are born from the ocean's depths individuals are manifestations of an order—an exclusive embodiment representing the entirety of existence. Through this realisation, one comprehends being an entity through which the universe perceives itself.”
The occasion provided students, with a chance to enhance their knowledge of art and culture as well as to contemplate their ties, to the world.
