The NEXT LEVEL - Media Labs project of the Goethe-Institut Khartoum responds to the dynamic changes in Sudan following the prolonged protests against the government of President Omar al-Bashir. Thereby, the project is aimed at young people and independent media organizations that want to contribute to the journalistic coverage of the social transformations in the country and the promotion of public discourse.
The project supports media professionals in developing skills in online content creation and technical knowledge. Additional skills training includes business development and entrepreneurship, which contributes to the long-term sustainability of the project.
A particular aspect of the project is the development of a website called "Sikka". The Sikka website serves as an archive to document the transitional period since the 2019 revolution and examines experiences since the outbreak of war in a special series called "Post-15 April Narratives." The website's editorial team creates multimedia content and receives further training and support through mentorship and regular workshops.
NEXT LEVEL - Media Labs is a project of the Goethe-Institut, funded by the German Federal Foreign Office.
