Fatih Akin’s “In the Fade” is the first movie to tackle the topic of NSU terror. The film shows the tragic story of Katja, a German woman who loses her Turkish husband Nuri and her son Rocco in a targeted bombing. Following the crime, the police carry out investigations within Turkish and Kurdish circles before ultimately arresting a young neo-Nazi couple under strong suspicion of the offense. To Katja’s horror, the perpetrators are granted acquittal. She is left with nothing but an intense desire and determination to seek vengeance. Singlehanded, Katja tracks down the acquitted couple in Greece. She spends days observing the perpetrators and finally executes her brutal act of vengeance.
