A prep-activity before the film screening in September on the account of the photobooks by film directors, photographers and artists who use image as a medium for storytelling. Each of them picks a distinct trait of a photo, interprets it on paper while creating stories through different perspectives.

Since a book is a silent medium devoid of voice and has a limited number of pages, it is more challenging to fit all images in a book compared to the making of film. Also, the images appearing in books are motionless which gives rise to the question of how these images can tell a story when being stacked in the book format, and how one’s impressions differ when reading the image versus watching the film.

For this activity, we have selected photobooks on the films of Wim Wenders and the other film directors, photographers, all the way to those artists who use photo as a medium to tell personal stories in book format.

Join us and other participants in a memorable talk while gaining more insights on where to start with the photograph book, exchanging thoughts and recommendations on how to enjoy the story from the photobook and feel the motion from the motionless through personal interpretation.

Speaker
Withit Chantamarit or Pin, is a former photographer and film location manager who is enthralled by the unique characteristics of a photobook and storytelling in film. He is the owner of Vacilando Bookshop, a store with the very distinctive focus of photobooks, art and everything in between, for instance books on design or the contact between arts and nature. Vacilando Bookshop, from time to time, holds an event aiming to create experiences and spark a connection from one person to another, encourage discussions that lead to further understanding on the topics of photobook, and give insights on self-publishing industry. A joyful chat between the owner and customers are what we commonly hear once we enter the store.
