How can community-led planning, public engagement, and design be used to restore justice to our cities? How can design strengthen the social bonds that are vital to a thriving, equitable D.C.? These questions prompted the Public Interest Design Lab, a new initiative of the Goethe-Institut, in partnership with DC Public Library. In its first year, this fellowship supported six design practitioners from many fields confronting the most urgent issues in their communities.
