In our era of information overload, mediated by algorithmic echo chambers and fake news, knowing what is credible and valuable has become increasingly challenging.
  • How to navigate this complex landscape as a young person?
  • How to identify credible sources?
  • How to differentiate between fact and opinion?
  • Furthermore, how does acquiring proficiency in world languages and gaining cultural competence, particularly in German, enhance media literacy skills?
  • Finally, how can you prepare for a career in international journalism and strategically apply knowledge for the broader public good?

September 24 at 12pm ET

For this discussion, we are joined by Michael Gargiulo, an award-winning investigative journalist and NYC news anchor. A passionate German speaker and a veteran in the field of journalism, Michael leads the New York Chapter of the RIAS Berlin Commission, a binational organization dedicated to promoting German-American understanding in the field of international broadcasting.

This hybrid event offered at the Goethe-Institut New York and virtually on Zoom on September 24 at 12pm ET, is open to students of German in the US and their teachers.
