April 7-14, 2016
With screenings and events at Cinema Village, 22 East 12th Street, and other locations

KINO! is a long-running fixture on New York’s cultural calendar, having been showcased at the Museum of Modern Art before going independent in 2014. Programmed by a jury of leading film professionals, KINO! 2016 presents a selection of twelve feature premieres plus the US premiere of the Short Export Made in Germany program.

As part of this year's festival lineup, the Goethe-Institut co-presents B-Movie: Lust & Sound in West Berlin 1979-1989 (2015) on April 9 and 11, with co-director and producer Klaus Maeck in attendance.

On April 12, the Goethe-Institut also presents a special screening of Decoder, a 1984 cult classic co-written and produced by Maeck. The screening will be followed by a conversation between Klaus Maeck and cast member Genesis Breyer P-Orridge, moderated by Ryan Martin.

KINO! 2016 is organized by German Films, in collaboration with Bertelsmann and supported by the Goethe-Institut New York and other partners.
